About
I’m a Viking. I was born in Denmark and wear my heritage proudly: powering through tough stuff is in my nature, and has proven essential in growing our company.Viking women are strong, independent and value family;female role models I was blessed to grow up around.I was partially raised in the Netherlands, attended Uni in Rotterdam, worked at KPN, Sony and Canon before founding CustomerGauge in 2007.My current job is running operations (and culture). The big company experience helped me work out how to win and support our global clients.I’m a mother of two (with two bonus kids), live and work in Amsterdam. I love cars but I don’t own one, I’m happy to cycle everywhere.
Why do you think is important that Role Models need to be visible?
My Danish aunt was my first consious role model. She was the breadwinner at home, ran the family and would not be subdued in conversation. And at university my mentor was an outspoken, honest and fearless female lecturer.Starting work, I assumed that all the battles in discrimination had been ‘won’. I was wrong. I still see exclusion in gender, sexuality and religion. So at CustomerGauge I aim to model fairness and tolerance. This is so important to me. I am grateful for the opportunity to have an impact on my colleagues and their families.I don’t see many like me, refusing to blend in. I am outspoken, opinionated, direct, authentic. It can be scary, but I confidently drive customer excellence and prioritize family. And I see the success it brings us: We have about 50/50 female ratio in all our departments, and an inclusive and diverse culture which makes us stronger.
